Eligibility for Admission to M.Tech Program
  • BE/BTech or equivalent degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Offshore Engineering.
  • For individuals employed in the Maritime industry wanting to upgrade their skills through a full-time or part-time MTech degree, a BSc (3 year) degree in Nautical Sciences with 5 years of on board experience can be considered as the eligibility criteria in lieu of the above.
  • The program will be open to Indian as well as international students.
MTech (Thesis Track) MTech (Coursework Track)
Credits through courses >=32 >=48
The coursework will include
  1. 4 credits of Writing course,
  2. >= 4 credits of HSS courses [Applicable for students admitted before AY 2025-26],
  3. 4 credits of Applications of AI courses relevant to the discipline [Applicable for students admitted from AY 2025-26],
  4. >= 8 credits of electives,
  5. >= 16 credits of courses specified by the discipline,
  6. 2 physical education courses of zero credit each.

Further expectations At least one manuscript is expected to be submitted for publication for completion of degree requirements The fee for the programme is expected to be higher than MTech through thesis track and fellowship will not be available.
M.Tech by Coursework

MTech by coursework requires a larger number of courses along with a project component. It is suitable for students intending to upgrade their skills through a curated set of courses without indulging in open-ended research. The suggested semester-wise program is given below.
